Hello, tempura.tv fan,
I am Taishi writing this blog on tempura.tv.
For tourists, I introduced the model course where you should visit in Kyoto with a previous blog. My friend coming from Russia was so surprised to be able to smoke inside a restaurant!! If you have not checked a previous blog, please click HERE.
Day2:
Today I want to show another model course in Kyoto!! How about walking around Gion District dressed up Japanese Dress ”Kimono”?
Before dressed up, shall we eat Ramen? Ramen is well known as a Japanese food. You have already had a Ramen in your country, haven’t you? However there is quite differences between us, especially soup.
Due to include Umami Flavor, it would be a featured taste!! My highly recommendation are Tenkaippin(天下一品) stores where have 23 shops in Kyoto city. The way to order is also interesting for you. We buy a ticket at vender machine before eating. It is getting common style in Ramen restaurants.
After eating, let’s be dressed up Kimono!! Around Shijo Downtown, you can find many Kimono rental shops. Or search “Kimono Rental” on Google. This time we went to “Hachimitsu Kyoto Kimono Rental Shop” nearby Gion District. Their service, quality and price is awesome. Check their home page.
Going through “Hanami Koji Street(花見小路通)”, we headed to “Kennin Temple(建仁寺)”. It is a temple of the Zen(禅) sect, one of the main branches of Japanese Buddhism. There are lots of staffs to be remarkably noticed you.
Firstly you can see The Wind and Thunder Gods drawn by Sotatsu Tawaraya(俵屋宗達). The left is Thunder God and the right is Wind God.
Next we can see Japanese Garden. It was designed by Japanese aesthetic and philosophical ideas, avoid artificial ornamentation, and highlight the natural landscape. You can chill out and feel an old Japanese life.
Finally twin dragons are waiting for you at the Dharma Hall. I took my breath away when I saw it first time. It can be instagramable spot:)
Are you thirsty? Let’s go to “Kikusui(菊水)” We can use here as BF, Lunch, café and diner. It was build over a hundred ago. At that time, this building is established as a European Modern Style and registered a tangible cultural property.
It’s getting dark. Time to dinner!! We went to “Pontako Sakura(ぽんたこ佐倉)” It is Takoyaki restaurant along with Pontocho Street. This street has super unique old style of Kyoto. Once you come Kyoto, you must visit here!!
This restaurant serves Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki which is originally based on casual cousins. So it is mixed between fancy restaurant and casual cousins. Don’t worry, this restaurant is relatively cheaper than around Pontocho Street.
Before going there, you should make a reservation, especially on weekend. Last weekend, I didn’t make a reservation around Shijo District, I closely missed a diner haha.
After diner, It may be good walking around there. Pontocho Street and Kiyamachi Street beside Pontocho is for night owls. Bar and Night club, you can find there.
This is a model case for traveling Kyoto. How about two model course in Kyoto? If you want to know more, please left some comments on this blog:)
Let’s enjoy and explore new Kyoto!!
Catch up soon. Bye
